The designer was a smarty-aleck. He had the idea two minutes into the briefing, but made us wait two weeks to see it.

Cafe themed direct mail pieces. Brochure printed on a napkin, coffee cup. Elaborate, yes, but that’s what it takes to get through to a fashion buyer.

A very targetted direct mail campaign went to retail buyers and got the desired attention.

With six finalists and one top prize out of more than a thousand entries I’d say Marshall Homes and Grissom&Friends had a pretty good night.

Greater Toronto, April 29, 2011 – It was a momentous evening for the building and development industry tonight as 34 of the GTA’s premier homebuilders ascended to the stage at the BILD Awards in front of their colleagues, which included nearly a thousand builders, designers, sales and marketing professionals.
With over a thousand submissions and only 46 categories, the annual BILD Awards – presented by the Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) – recognize the very best of the GTA’s new home construction industry. Now in its 31st year, the Awards also mark the 90th anniversary of the Association’s inauguration.

And the winner is…Marshall Homes,
best newspaper ad, lo-rise.

What! Another BILD awards finalist? Yep, another candidate for best email campaign. Too bad they can’t both win.
